Scripture Reflection

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9

When you're not in alignment with who God calls you to be, you will align with who your past, the enemy, or society says you should be. This negatively impacts our health and our weight because it is only when we are aligned with God's will for us that we can truly desire to be in good health. Sure, we can get healthy on our own, but it's by works which are often temporal and fleeting. When we are healthy as a natural outpouring of who we are in Christ, we will not need to struggle to maintain it.

Each week you will practice one strategy to help ground your identity in Christ and learn how to trust Him with your health and weight loss journey.

This practice is called RESET. It's a process that involves a series of strategies ranging from spiritual daily preparation of your hearts and minds to long term, practical solutions for self-care.

Every Saturday, you will be introduced to a new reset strategy. You will practice that strategy for 7 days and share your experience each week.

Reset Strategy - Renewing Your Mind

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

We will not win all of our battles but our success rate will be dramatically improved when we can renew our mind AFTER we’ve fallen into temptation. This strategy will be the same for each group regardless of your false identity (Ephesians 4:23).

Be conscious of your boundaries today. If you break them ...

1.  Stop and don't continue the behavior.

2.  Refuse to beat up on yourself.

3.  Say something to God to let Him know of your desire to change your behavior.

Share your prayer of renewal if/after you broke your boundaries (refers to something you did that you did not want to do or something you did not do that you wanted to do) today.
