Vision can be defined as a supernatural revelation from God. It means to 'perceive' or 'see.' It's not to be confused with a dream or even a goal because a vision is developed through communication between you and the Lord, and it speaks of future things to come.

In Proverbs 29:18, we learn a powerful principle. The verse in Proverbs speaks of the importance of prophetic vision inspired by the Lord God Himself.  The NIV version says that when there is no vision, 'people cast off restraint,' the NLT says they 'run wild,' the CEV says law and order disappear. This is what happens to us when God's word is void from our lives. Without vision from God, we're left to rely on our best guess, selfish opinions, and our fickle feelings and emotions, which we know always lead us astray.

Thankfully, God has given us all vision. In our moments of quiet, He has confirmed in our spirit His best plans and purpose for us. Unfortunately, many of us have never taken the time to align with it. That's why we often feel like the Israelites wandering around in the desert, circling the same old mountain over and over again—lost.

Is this your story—trying this or that, going here and there but never arriving at your promised land? It's time to stop wasting time wandering in the desert and finally align with all of God's promises for you.

That can only begin once you have a vision. It does not have to be detailed, and it may be full of twists and turns along the way, but it is an essential part of the process. With the Holy Spirit as your guide, your vision will help you create a clear path to follow until you arrive at your promised land. You've already started the process of vision creation by identifying your word for the year, your theme scripture, and your 10 words. Today, you're going to take the next step.

If 'YOUR WORD' for the year will be your prompt or guiding light to help you focus, ...

'YOUR VISION' will be the final destination. It will paint a picture of what your life will look like when you are at your healthy weight and being led by the Holy Spirit.

Action Steps

It takes 2 days to complete this exercise.

Today you're going to write out your vision. After spending time in prayer, seeking divine communication, imagine yourself waking up in the morning at your goal weight.

How does it feel?

What kinds of foods are you eating?

What are some of the new activities that have become a part of your daily routine?

Who are you doing them with?

What are some of the smells, sights, and sounds that have become familiar?

After spending time in prayer, journal how you will feel physically, mentally, and spiritually when you've achieved your healthy weight, write out in detail what a day in your life will look like. What is your strongest emotion? What are some of the sights and sounds that you're experiencing? What were the biggest transformations you received from the Holy Spirit?

Today is only part one, tomorrow you will complete the rest of this exercise in more detail.

If you've already completed this exercise in the past, revisit what you wrote, and make any necessary changes.

Reflect

1.  How is the Holy Spirit leading you to write the vision He is giving you? What is your process?

2.  As you think about your future, what activities are you doing with your family or your loved ones? How are they benefitting from your renewed vitality?

3. How will having a vision move you towards your health goals this year?

Worship and Prayer

Where There’s No Vision

"Lord, Your Word says that without vision, people perish. I desire to take hold of your vision for me and run with it. Let me be sensitive to your leadings and promptings every day. I know that this will be a year like no other. I know that I have only scratched the surface of getting to know you, and I'm excited to get to know you better, to spend more time with you, and to feel your Spirit leading me and guiding me in everything that I do. In Jesus's name. Amen."

I will reach my goals as a mature and godly woman. The Lord himself will sustain me and give me strength to persevere and endure, teaching me the discipline needed to accomplish all that he has in mind for me. Every aspect of my life will glorify him. I will shine like gold, giving glory to him. I am praying that when people are near me, they will be curious as to why I am different so that I can share the incredible love of Jesus with them. Hallelujah. I will be here to point the way for younger generations, nurturing them on the Word, and placing the loving arm of intercession around them. I will be fit, healthy, rested, joyful and deeply peaceful.

My vision includes fully committing to protecting God’s temple by exercising and making healthier decisions when making food choices. I am focusing taking walks outside to enjoy the scenery, morning yoga and meditation, and focusing on God’s plan.

I envision myself as a walking testimony of God’s power and love as someone who chose to trust Him for healing in her mind, body, and soul. I am trusting Him for my needs and filling every void in my life. I am strong and healthy, living a long life, and able to pour into others the wisdom God has given me.

As this is my 2nd year my vision hasn’t really changed however the way I view it has. More of Christ and less of me. That is why my word for this year is “Reset”. Last year it was “Aware” I was blind but now I see.
